Here's how to make authentic char grilled tandoori chicken.

270 g yoghurt
5 garlic cloves
4 cm ginger
1/2 shallot
1/2 small chili pepper
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp mango powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tbsp garam masala powder
1 tsp salt
1 drop red food coloring
6 chicken drumsticks
Step by step
This recipe makes 6 chicken drumsticks.
Peel the shallot and cut into chunks. Peel and slice the ginger.
Place all the ingredients except for chicken drumsticks into the jug of the Food Processor. Put the on speed 2 and pulse until smooth.
Make two slits in the skin of each chicken drumstick, this will help the chicken to absorb flavors. Place the chicken drumsticks in a bowl and add the marinade. Turn the chicken until it's coated. Cover and place in the fridge to marinate for 24 hours.
Heat up the grill to medium-high heat. Wipe off most of the excess marinade from the chicken drumsticks. Grill the chicken on direct heat for 10 minutes. Turn and grill another 10 minutes. Check the chicken and turn again if necessary for additional 10 minutes. Serve hot.
