How do you clean stainless steel espresso machines?
Premium finishes like stainless steel require care. Corrosion can occur on stainless steel when exposed to certain environments. Be sure to care for your stainless steel espresso machine by following the cleaning instructions below:
Routine Cleaning
Regular cleaning of the stainless steel will keep it looking its best, and will also help protect the finish. This type of cleaning is recommended to be completed weekly, or monthly, as needed depending on how often you use it.
- Use a soft cloth (microfibre recommended) with a solution of warm water and gentle dish soap. Clean with the grain of the steel.
- Rinse with clean water and a damp cloth to remove any residue.
- Thoroughly dry all surfaces.
- Wipe surfaces with a cleaner specifically made for stainless steel surfaces (oil or silicone-based).
Deep Cleaning
It is recommended that you deep clean your stainless twice a year, or as needed to treat stains and restore lustre.
- Wipe stainless surfaces as needed for any discolouration or stains with an acidic cleaner (either oxalic or acetic acid-based) with a concentration of 5%. White vinegar is an acetic acid and typically has a concentration of 5%. Wipe with the grain of the steel.
- Rinse with clean water and a damp cloth to remove any residual cleaner.
- Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth.
- With a clean, soft cloth, wipe the surface with isopropyl alcohol to remove any remaining organic residue and displace any remaining water.
- Wipe surfaces with a cleaner specifically made for stainless steel surfaces (oil or silicone-based).

Do’s and Don’ts of Cleaning Stainless Steel
Do’s:
- Wash surfaces with warm, soapy water, liquid detergent, and a non-abrasive sponge. Always rub evenly in the direction of the grain.
- Use a clean microfibre or soft clean cloth to polish and dry.
- Make sure all surfaces are dry. Water that is not completely dried off can cause discolouration—water may contain iron, which will initiate this discolouration.
Don’ts:
To avoid damage to the finish, do not use abrasive cloths, paper towels, or newsprint, steel wool pads, abrasive powders, ammonia, or oven cleaners. Using any of these products could damage your appliance's finish and is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
